Little Brittle In The Middle Of The Ride

For lack of anything else to post, here is a picture of my friend (and worship pastor), Curtis and his catch of the (yester)day.

Note: I, in no way, advocate the injuring of fishies.

I Got My Mind Set On You (but its gonna take money)

The problem with being half of a two person household is how easy it is for your other half to veto something. I was vetoed last night. Something I thought was incredibly important, worth the cost, and a definite benefit to our lives... well, The Husband disagreed.
I wanted to buy Season One of The OC last night. Remember yesterday when I told you to buy it? Granted, it's a $50 dollar purchase (though, after much unappreciated research, I found it at Sam's Club for $44.77), but it's so worth it. First of all, lets consider my terrible memory. I have no idea how half of the show went down... I can barely remember the finale. I was really looking forward to watching Season One before the next season starts. Secondly, how can I represent if I dont own the dvd? Who will believe me when I tell them it's one of the best dramas on tv right now? See, you're already beginning to doubt me.
So, here's what I'm asking of you. If I have so much as 10 readers... and each reader donates 5 bucks (a meal at chickfila, if you will) to the Save Sabrina Fund.... I kid.
I'll just wait till Christmas. Add it to my ever increasing list.

I Will Never Forget

Yesterday was October 26th. Steve and I have been dating for eight years. (I know we're married, but hopefully, that doesnt mean we've stopped dating). Well, if the word 'dating' means: to go out and have a good time. But thats not the point. The point is, we've been dating for eight years. Which, my crazy husband figured out is 32% of our lives. Today I think that's kinda cool. Last night I was a little freaked out by that (and not just the fact that he figured it out in his head while laying in bed (somethign I could never do).
If you dont care about that, care about this. Season One of The OC came out on dvd yesterday. You should definitely buy it. Season Two begins next Thursday, November 4. If you hurry it up, you can watch the whole season before the 2nd one begins. I cannot think of anything better for you to do with your time.

Happily After I'm Told

I'm, uh, a very picky person. I don't mind admitting that. I like certain foods, certain ways, even certain brands.
Unfortunately, I've had an on going battle with salad. It all started with Chickfila. I was in love with Chickfila's croutons and caesar salad dressing (the only things that make salad worth eating... well, except the chicken strips on top). Then, they went and changed them on me. I don't do change well. But, its a fast food place. So, what can I do? I put in my two cents on their website and tried to move on. I'll find a new dressing and croutons in the grocery store. Cause, well, things in grocery stores dont go away...
Boy was I wrong. I fell in love with Marie Callender's Butter and Garlic croutons. Oooo yummy yum. Just thinking about them... But now they're gone! Gone! (Baby, your) Gone! (Girl you're gone). It may just be my Kroger (out to get me, I tell you) but they stopped carrying my croutons.
Then, this weekend... I go to get my new favorite dressing, Kraft's Bacon Caesar dressing. Ohhh that dressing is so tasty. It too was gone! Nooooooooooooo. Why? Kroger? Why? I treat you so well... I swipe my Kroger card on a weekly basis. Why must you tourture me so?!? I'm just trying to eat healthy! (please, nobody needs to point out that my dressing of choice has more calories than a big mac).
I suppose I can search around and see if Food Lion or Harris Teeter are carrying my beloved toppings...
Or I'll just protest eating salads all together.

It's My Favorite Part Because... You'll See

I love my church! No specific reason why I tell you this now... I just do. I'm so glad I've found a place where I can be me and other people can be them and its totally cool and normal and good.
Not only that... but the music freakin rocks. Its like going to an awesome live concert (well it is live...) every week. I'm never disappointed and I'm always left wanting more.
Check it out. And come visit if you're in the area. You wont be disappointed.
Or have a looksie... our website kicks ass too.

If You Weren't Real I Would Make You Up

I left out two shows from my list yesterday. What kind of avid (slightly obsessive) TV Watcher am I? I'm also watching Las Vegas and Scrubs
Not to mention the condiments of television... Trading Spaces, The Daily Show, and my new added favorite The Ellen Degeneres Show.

You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You

My major accomplishment of the day yesterday was watching eight hours of television, with only breaks for snacks, meals and the bathroom.
Now that I'm far enough into it, and have made my decisions... here's a look at Sabrina's fall TV line-up.
Sunday: Jack & Bobby (WB) I wasnt sure about this show.. the premise, though original, didnt seem like something that could go any further than the pilot. Two brothers in 2004, one will be the president way far in the future. But they've managed to pull it off thus far... giving a little piece of Bobby as the president and how that came to be based on his childhood. I'm lovin it.
Desperate Housewives (ABC) I've only seen the first two episodes... but it's got this Ally McBeal wild and weird quality to it. I'm very much attached to the characters and hope I dont ever become one of them (though I do hold a lot of the same qualities as Bree).
Monday: Everwood (WB) I do love this show. It ended wonderfully last season and definitely picked up just as entertaining.
Tuesday: Gilmore Girls (WB) Finally Luke and Lorelai are together. As long as it stays that way, I should survive. I'm not sure how I feel about Rory and Dean... they sure did make that a tricky one... he's married but they love each other, oy! The show has mantained its wonderful sarcasm and witty pop culture. If you havent watched it... you should definitely start. Even if its about girls...
One Tree Hill (WB) If I had to drop another show... it might be this one. Except for the attractive people... there isnt much keeping this going.
Wednesday: Lost (ABC) Great! If you arent watching, you're just plain dumb.
Thursday: Joey (NBC) I feel obligated to watch this show. Its actually the only half-hour comedy on my list. It does make me laugh... but so far, not as much as Friends did.
ER (NBC) I couldnt stop watching this show, even if I wanted to.
Friday: Joan of Arcadia (CBS) The first season made this show excellent... I'm not sure about the second season... kinda feels like they're trying too hard. Or maybe it's just Joan's hair.
Add The OC to the mix on November 4 and that will give me nine and a half hours of television each week. Insane, I know.

Aint That A Kick In The Head

You ever start eating something... and its really really good... and then a few bites into it, it just isnt good anymore?
I just had that experience with carmel corn.
First Bite: "mmmm carmel corn. loooove the carmel corn. mmmm."
Sixteenth Bite: "Bleh yuck! Why am I still eating this??"
Seventeeth Bite: "Yeah... still gross."

I Got A Little Bit Closer

Last night, (isnt that how I started the last entry?) Rachel came over for a Girls Night In (and Steve went over to hang with Curtis). We dyed my hair. See. Look over there. In honor of fall and all things autumny, I decided to be a brunette. What do you think? I'm happy with it... though it's all one shade, and I was very used to highlights. Still, it definitely put in me the mood to wear sweaters and boots. Yay for fall! Now, if only it would not be so hot and humid outside...
Besides the hair dyeing, we painted our toes, ate cookie dough, read magazines and watched a chick flick.
I'm hoping to make our Girls Night In a regular thing. Every girl needs one.

Would You Be Mine?

Last night... I was making tuna (which is what you make for dinner when you didn’t go food shopping all weekend and there is nothing else to eat). But, since I didn’t go food shopping, after opening the can, I realized I didn’t have any mayonnaise. And, since Miss Picky Sabrina only eats tuna one-way... I was stuck. Until, it occurred to me that I have neighbors! Neighbors that I know by name, that speak my same language, that even go to my church! Neighbors that I can bother for the proverbial cup of sugar!
I asked Steve to go next door and ask to borrow some mayo (since I was already in my pajamas... and, well, we aren’t that close of neighbors yet)... He argued with me for a bit
"What if they don’t have any?"
"Who doesn't have mayonnaise? It's a staple."
"We don’t have mayonnaise."
"We haaave mayonnaise, we just don’t have any right now."
"What if they don’t have any right now?"
(Mumble mumble mumble, you've got to be kidding me).
Finally I agreed to call and ask first... Kimberly answered and I giggled and said "This is sort of a strange question, but could I borrow some mayonnaise?"
"Oh! of course!!"
"Great, I'll send Steve down to get it."
Yay for neighbors!

If You Hold On For One More Day

What a great day! A day when you can get a hot chocolate with breakfast and ice cream with lunch... well, it doesnt get any better than that.
Yay for Fall!

Your Words Dont Match The Story That Your Actions Show

Look at this! It's my very own "Personal Watermelon."

Seriously. Apparently, they came out this summer, but I just discovered them at Target yesterday. They are seedless and the size of a cantalope (as you can see). Too cute. Hopefully I'll break it open and have a taste tonight (I'd share it with The Steve, but he's allergic to melons...).

Besides personal watermelons... I've decided to vote in this coming presidential election. I was completely convinced not to vote, basically because I hate politics and all it doesnt stand for. But then there was a bit of enlightenment, followed by some of my own research and I feel informed enough to vote. I'm too anti-confrontational to tell you who for, though.

He Had It Comin'

Yesterday was our housewarming party. I meant to, but totally forgot to take pictures. Sorry. The party went well, though... I made a little too much food (but luckily I can blame that fault on my family, Aunt Pattie who always cooked for an army). Most people congregated in the kitchen, which seemed to hold about 15 people comfortably. I liked that people were standing around in the kitchen talking and laughing.
I was most nervous about Masha, our realtor coming. She hadnt seen the place since we painted or anything... and with how meticulous and anal she is about everything, we were both worried she'd hate what we had done. Which really doesnt matter, except we do intend for her to sell the place whenever we decide to move (which, I hope, wont be for a long long time). But, she didnt show. All that detailed cleaning for nothing.
The best part of the evening occured at the very end of the night. Sorry, Josh, but you're not getting out of this one. Josh and Mamie stayed around for a short game of Mario Party. When that was done, they set off to leave, but when we opened the door, we realized that it was seriously pouring outside. They would have stayed till it let up, but Josh had to go to the lab (he does scientisty stuff, dont ask for more details that that). Now, rain is rain, no big deal... but our street currently has a river that runs down it because the drains are blocked (so they dont get clogged from construction). So, there's this big river... running right down where their car is parked. The plan was devised that Josh would run out to the car, and pull it into the driveway for Mamie, so she didnt have to step in the big river. Very nice husbandly thing to do. So, Josh makes a run for it... run run running down the driveway... and then he stops short. Stops! In the middle of the pouring rain, he stops in front of the river "I cant make that!" he screams. We're laughing hysterically, standing at the front door watching as he tries to figure out if some part of the river is less wide than the other.... Steve even yelled for him to come back inside if he wasnt going to jump across. But finally he did. It was too funny. Doubled over laughing funny.

There's A Thrill That Words Cannot Express

A friend of mine dropped this link my way... little did he know my fascination with legos. In fact, I had just spent too much time staring at the lego Liberty Bell at the Philly airport. Amazing, I tell you. These pictures of the lego church are pretty amazing as well. Great detail. And its dedicated to Precious, the cat...

In other news... I've decided to plant some pansies. Pansies are my absolute favorite flower. At a point, it was obsessive. But, thats died down a bit. Still, I love them and I'm glad to have my very own house for them to surround. And its fall, perfect pansy time. So, per the recommendation of a green thumb friend, I went to a Durham shop (Stone Brothers & Byrd) and got the necessary items. Tomorrow morning, I shall plant pansies. The thing is... planting flowers requires two things Sabrina doesnt do well... being dirty, and being outside. I suppose I could pot them in the garage (the wonderous bridge between inside and outside) (oooo, wouldnt it be neat to have one of those big blower things at the garage doors... like at the butterfly house?). Well, if I survive it... I may plant more for my back porch... wish me luck!
